Forgiveness

Monday was Columbus day.
Our first girl turned 5 years last Friday and we celebrated her birthday till Monday.
We had a special weekend.

However it was not a good idea that I took a off Monday when my office was opening, and my boss got angry at me.
She called me Monday and I felt terrible.

The next day Tuesday, I worked at my office, teaching students.
After my work I talked to my boss and apologized to my fault.
She just said "Stop feeling bad" then she opened her arms and hugged me.

I got tears.
My boss is Ms. Nevilla Ottley.
She is amazing.

The Millionaire Next Door

*PAWs (Prodigious Accumulator of Wealth) allocate nearly twice the number of hours per month to planning their financial investment as UAWs (Under Accumulator of Wealth) do.
*The millionaires have a "go-to-hell fund."
In other words, they have accumulated enough wealth to live without working for ten or more years. Thus, those of them with a net worth of $1.6 million could live comfortably for more than twelve years.
*PAWs are living below their means, allocating funds efficiently in ways that build wealth, ignoring conspicuous consumption, being proficient in targeting marketing opportunities, and choosing the "right" occupation.

I encountered a great book, "The Millionaire Next Door" last week.
I hadn't known how PAWs life were, how they were leading their life till I read the book.

Most of the millionaires are very frugal.
Being millionaires is not how they use their money.
Being PAWs is that how much they have their net asset.
They use huge time for planning with their very smart financial specialist and invest very very carefully.

I could say that being a millionaire and being a great musician has same points.
Plan for today, tomorrow, after a week, a year, five years, ten years, twenty years, and prepare for the future.

Being a pianist while TV is on

Once we have kids, especially while kids are small, we really don't have time to study, enjoy being solitude, read a book, sip a cup of coffee quietly. Every parent has to make every effort to have his or her children lead a fruitful life.

The life with kids is like this:
Seven days a week, my kids stay up late with me even though I want to enjoy quiet time longer on weekends.
During the day time I have a responsibility to make my kids have fun and to teach or to lead them to learn something everyday.
At night small bees need me while they are in dreams, want to be cuddled.

I am a parent of two small girls - 18 months and 4 and half years.
I love my children, enjoy being with them now.
Am feeling that my love became double, triple or more after I have my family.

************

My kids have summer break now. They have fun to spend their time with me, so do I.
But I could not have time to practice the piano.
To spill the beans, I was frustrated and felt something bad whenever
I listened to piano pieces which requires a lot of practice that I could not have.

A couple of weeks ago we found very nice TV programs in the morning.
My children love to watch those. I allow them to stay in front of a TV up to two hours.
And I've decided to use one hour for me during their TV time from this week.
Please let me practice the piano just a little bit, please!!

I am moving to my second CD now.
Hopefully it is coming this fall.
Contains beautiful music and will be special for every one who loves music.

Hello, Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle/Seven Pounds

I've been Attending a summer camp as a piano teacher now.
Lessons start from 8:30 am.
I take a bus 7:00 am, read a newspaper at starbucks and get to the school by 8:15.

My favorite time to spend in a bus is listening audio CDs with a book.
Now I have CDs and a book of "Hello, Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle" from
a library, the book has really fun stories, makes me giggle.
The book is for children grade 1 to 3, but who cares?

Try to take a rest in weekends and keep time for a DVD.
I was impressed a movie "Seven Pounds", watched over and over again.
Did you see that already?

School year ended/recital, recital..../Getting to Know You

My music school ended 2009 year program this week.
We had a students' recital on Wednesday and every my student did a beautiful performance.
It is great to get to know people through music.

One of my student picked up "Getting to Know You From the movie 'King And I'".
The lyrics tell my feeling exactly.

Tomorrow, another students' recital.
After that I have a week off and will be at a summer camp as a teacher from June 29th.
Just I am soooo busy. Wanna have time to practice piano.

Naoko's May

Summer is here, many pools open today.
My practice for Scriabin is going well.
Ten of my fingers are getting to remember the piece now.
Actually I have to practice Rachmaninov though.

I started to work at the Ottley Music School this month,
having 12 students.
It is really fun to teach them, knowing Amrican culture, many music and many characters etc..
I really love to be there.

And enjoy this music sometimes.

I'll get a new swimsuit tomorrow!

Keep going

I was depressed last night.
Was not sure if I would practice in the very early morning after
I got awake.
So didn't prepare anything for my practice before I went to bed.

As usual, I got up 4:30 am and just started moving my fingers thinking a bit about my problem which I had been dragging from last night.
Out of the blue, I noticed "Oh, my fingers had gotten to understand this music!!"
This moment comes and happens suddenly after my long practice hours every time.
I am ready for a concert after I get this feeling.

OK, go, go, girl!
Just keep going.
Trust myself.

BREAK!!!!/Irish soda bread

After the performance on 12th, got a spring break till mid April.
I am going to perform "Mirror by Ravel" in April, but I have a break
till then. Great!!!!

I would like to jot down my favorite bread recipe today.
It is very easy to make. Don't need to use yeast, butter and egg.
The essential ingredients are flour, baking soda, soy milk and vineger.
I can even bake this bread in the morning when I have a performance on the day.

Irish soda bread
*Ingredients
2 cups flour
2 Tbsp sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/3 cup raisins
1/3 cup nuts
2/3 cup soy milk
2 Tbsp vineger
*Method
1: Preheat oven to 400°
Sift together flour, the sugar, raisins, nuts and baking soda into
a large mixing bowl.
Pour soymilk and vineger.
2: Mix just until moistened.
Transfer dough to a baking sheet.
3: Bake about 35-45 minutes.

The point are:
Preheat oven.
Don't mix dough so much. Put it into a oven immidiately.

Hope you like this!
